Greg Walter
Partner, Chief Risk Officer, Head of Asset Management
Mr. Walter is the Chief Risk Officer and Head of Asset Management for Northlight Capital Partners. He is responsible for establishing acceptable underwriting and asset management processes, both on a single asset basis and across the portfolio.
Prior to joining NCP, Mr. Walter worked for 23 years with GE Capital (1984 to 2008) in various executive and leadership roles developing and managing turnaround efforts of underperforming credits. During this time, Mr. Walter was also leading underwriting and asset management in the acquisition of over $9 billion in commercial and real estate non-performing loans globally.
Most recently, he was a senior risk officer for Global Financial Restructuring and before that Mr. Walter reported to the CEO of GE Equity in the management of a $625 million private equity portfolio while representing GE on multiple boards covering various industries. At GE Equity, Mr. Walter also served as a risk officer where he was responsible for developing and implementing various risk management dashboards and Six Sigma processes [such as performance matrixes and operational scorecards] for both underwriting and managing debt and equity investments. These tools, while first deployed within GE Equity, were subsequently extended to, and adopted by, GE Real Estate.
